Surgical intervention is the cornerstone to successful #reflux surgery, #hiatal hernia surgery, and #paraesophageal hernia surgery. However, re-operative surgery, although rare, is more complex, and expertise is essential for excellent outcomes. Our group published our findings on successful re-operative surgery using robotics for reflux surgery, hiatal hernia surgery, and paraesophageal hernia surgery. Most of the patients could go home the same day as the procedure. Moreover, the patients had excellent outcomes similar to the initial operation. We show low complication rates and no conversion to open, which is the benefit of robotic surgery for reflux surgery, hiatal hernia surgery, and paraesophageal hernia surgery.
Although no one wants to undergo a second surgery, patients should seek surgeons with extensive experience in this field for excellent outcomes.
